Vitamin/Mineral Deficiencies

Contact Me

Remember the concept -

Inflammation and Metabolic Dysfunction → Free Radicals → Oxidative Stress → DNA and Mitochondria Damage

Studies clearly show many of us are nutrient deficient. You can’t heal from disease, prevent disease, or achieve optimal health if you are deficient in vital cellular nutrients.

Some Common Vitamins Tested:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin K
  • B vitamins (thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, cobalamin, biotin, and folate).

Some Common Minerals Tested:

  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Potassium
  • Zinc
  • Sodium
  • Phosphorus
  • Copper
  • Chromium
  • Selenium

What Causes these to become deficient?

1. Poor gut health and poor absorption

2. Cell damage via inflammation and oxidative stress requiring higher amounts

of these to counter this process

3. Genetic susceptibility - you may be low due to mutations on certain genes.    As an example, there are several genes that affect how we transport and absorb vitamin D. If these genes are mutated, you may be deficient and need considerably more D than the person next to you. You may not be able to convert beta carotene to retinol, which causes low Vitamin A. There are many mutations like this and testing/proper supplementation can help tremendously.

4. Heavy Metals/Toxins - these bind to our cell wall and get trapped and will block nutrients from getting into the cell, as well as block toxic substances from getting out of the cell. Heavy metals and toxins are a big cause nowadays of chronic illness, and definitely vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

5. Medication use can cause deficiencies. Antacids, for example, can cause depletion of B vitamins, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc.

6. Soil depletion due to high turnover leads to reduced vitamins and minerals in our foods.

**Testing your cellular nutrient levels is critical for everyone and a high priority on day one of testing.
