Too many toxins combined with inefficient liver detox and lymph drainage = too many free radicals = damage to DNA and Mitochondria
First the symptoms, then the mechanism.
When the body encounters toxic substances such as alcohol, pharmaceutical drugs, recreational drugs, environmental toxins, heavy metals, and other by-products from the body’s activity, these substances have to go through multiple chemical reactions before they can be filtered out and removed. This process occurs in 3 phases:
The first step is known as Phase I liver detoxification (metabolism) and involves enzymes. These enzymes change harmful substances and make them more water-soluble and/or oxidize them. Although necessary, this oxidative process creates harmful free radicals associated with cell damage, early aging, poor health, and chronic disease. But, as long as Phase II and III are working well, this isn't much of a problem.
Phase II liver detox is responsible for removing all the harmful free radicals created during Phase I liver detox/metabolism.
The byproducts from Phase I and II are released back into the bloodstream. The lymphatic system works to clear these harmful waste products from the body.
The lymphatic system operates as a one-way drainage system, collecting excess fluid and waste products. This fluid then passes through lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes, where it is filtered. Along the way, immune cells inspect and eliminate pathogens.
The cleansed fluid is then returned to the bloodstream.
